spirituality and medicine:
curriculum development project

Spirituality learning outcomes: skills

» Students should feel comfortable taking a brief 'screening' spiritual history as part of a normal clerking history.

» Students should feel comfortable referring patients to the hospital chaplaincy and in liasing with chaplains as part of the healthcare team.

» Students should be aware of the challenges and opportunities of dealing with community clergy and religious communities in providing support for patients

» Students should be able to assess spiritual needs in psychiatric patients and in patients in palliative care.

The Spirituality and Medicine Curriculum Development Project is funded by the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
